Job Description

About the role

The Wastewater Quality Officer supports the effective management of trade waste, inflow and infiltration (I&I), and odour and corrosion, to achieve objectives of wastewater asset management, regulatory compliance, customer service, cost recovery and regional economic development.

The role provides this support through the design and implementation of innovative monitoring programs and interventions, including the management of trade waste agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of a risk-based trade waste management system
  • Contribute technical input to trade waste agreements and their administration
  • Coordinate sampling and investigation programs (trade waste, I&I, odour, corrosion)
  • Analyse data and report on trends, compliance and wastewater quality issues
  • Maintain effective relationships with trade waste customers
  • Lead initiatives to improve trade waste compliance and cleaner production
  • Identify and support solutions for odour, corrosion and I&I issues
  • Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders
  • Support asset management through condition assessments and risk identification
  • Assist with minor asset installations, renewals and upgrades
  • Ensure trade waste maintenance activities are planned, documented and executed
  • Share knowledge and provide training to team members
  • Facilitate communication between Service Delivery and broader EGW teams
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture aligned to EGW values
  • Promote health, safety, environmental compliance, accurate record-keeping, and confidentiality

* This role has been classified as per our Enterprise Agreement as a Band 3 position, ($72,912.23 - $94,710.54 per annum)

* Plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. We reserve the right to remunerate successful candidates within the span of this classification dependant on demonstrated skills, experience and qualifications.

Desired Skills and Experience

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Ability to analyse complex information from multiple data sources and implement solutions with attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
  2. Demonstrated practical skills and the ability to work safely alone and with wastewater team.
  3. Well-developed communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to represent EGW to major customers, suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
  4. Understanding of a risk-based approach to trade waste management and wastewater treatment, and/or land management.
  5. Positive attitude towards personal development including being united, authentic, innovative, and accountable to achieve corporate objectives.
  6. Effective time management skills combined with the ability to prioritise to ensure quality outcomes during times of peak activity
