Job Description

About the role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Operations & Maintenance team based at our Depot in Bairnsdale. In this position you will work collaboratively with a diverse team to ensure the efficient operations and maintenance of below and above ground infrastructure across the Mitchell region.

The Network Operations team plays an essential role in ensuring the continuity of supply of water and sewer services to customers through both planned maintenance activities and reactive works, as well as assisting in operational improvements and efficiencies to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A trade qualification, in plumbing, drainage, pipe laying, or civil construction
  • Proficiency in the use of plumbing/water industry related machinery, hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of pumps, potable water and sewer infrastructure is highly desirable
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • An aptitude for problem-solving
  • A positive attitude towards personal and professional development

* This role has been classified as per our Enterprise Agreement as a Band 2-3 position, ($56,902.59 - $ 83,811.38 per annum)

* Plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. We reserve the right to remunerate successful candidates within the span of this classification dependant on demonstrated skills, experience and qualifications.

Desired Skills and Experience

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Experience in operations and maintenance of water industry related assets, machinery or specialist tools and equipment.
  2. Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills quickly to become a productive team member in the operations and maintenance of water and wastewater assets.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management combined with basic report writing and IT skills.
  4. Ability to meet work targets and deadlines when carrying out manual maintenance programs on EGW’s water and wastewater assets.
  5. Ability to participate in standby activities and after-hours callouts as required.
  6. Positive attitude towards personal development including being accountable, innovative, authentic and a united team player to achieve corporate objectives
