About the role
The Senior Operational Project Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of operational projects within Service Delivery, ensuring delivery in line with EGW’s Project Management Framework. These projects include simple, minor, and some medium-scale initiatives from the capital program, as well as opex-funded projects such as major flowmeter replacements, chemical dosing installations, and asset refurbishments.
The role works closely with Service Delivery and Capital Planning teams to prioritise and deliver projects that meet stakeholder expectations, while also providing guidance and support for smaller asset renewal projects to ensure efficient and effective outcomes. This position is focused on maximising safety, performance, and productivity within a collaborative team environment that promotes individual development and job satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of operational projects, including prioritisation, budgeting, timelines, and reporting.
- Ensure efficient delivery of projects within EGW’s Project Management Framework.
- Oversee end-to-end project delivery: scoping, procurement, resource allocation, commissioning, and handover.
- Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and delivery partners for project success.
- Provide on-site supervision and manage associated budgets.
- Act as a centre of excellence for operational projects, offering leadership and training.
- Represent Service Delivery in medium and major capital works projects.
- Advocate for procurement strategies that maximise long-term value.
- Align projects with EGW’s Asset Management Framework and champion improvement initiatives.
- Manage ad-hoc issue resolution and contingency planning.
- Support and escalate operational risks; maintain risk management systems.
- Advise senior management and implement decisions effectively.
- Ensure accurate asset data is recorded in EGW’s Asset Management System.
- Develop succession plans and foster team growth.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Role model EGW’s values and Health, Safety & Environment standards.
- Contribute to safe work practices and compliance with risk management frameworks.
- Maintain accurate records and handle queries confidentially.
- Participate in capital works planning and budget processes.
- Support project managers in contractor management and project execution.
