Join EGW in the role of Meter Reader (casual), providing essential water meter readings for customers as part of our quarterly billing cycles. The Meter Reader is responsible for completing water meter readings across assigned routes within the East Gippsland region, ensuring that readings are recorded safely, efficiently, to meet our organisational and customer requirements. Key responsibilities include accurately recording and uploading meter data, inspecting meters for damage or leaks, and identifying any irregularities or abnormal water usage. As a Meter Reader you will work approximately 28 weeks per year (5-7 weeks per cycle) across the East Gippsland region.
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will:
- Possess a current driver’s licence and own roadworthy vehicle (reimbursement of costs by EGW)
- Be physically fit and able to walk long distances for the duration of the meter reading cycle
- Be able to utilise a hand-held electronic device
- Have the ability to verify and validate readings when discrepancies occur and ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Able to inspect and report meters for faults, damage, leaks or abnormal usage, and update meter locations and numbers as required
- Adhere to East Gippsland Water health and safety requirements, including protective clothing and sun-smart policies
- Have a sound knowledge of the local area
- Be able to utilise initiative to locate services and
- Represent East Gippsland Water in a courteous, professional and respectful manner at all times and when responding to public enquiries
