Job Description

About the role

This is a full-time, ongoing role based in Mallacoota. As Senior Operations Technician, you’ll help keep water and sewer systems running safely and smoothly. You’ll maintain treatment plants and equipment, use digital tools, lead daily tasks, and follow safety and quality procedures to ensure reliable service for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain water and sewer systems, treatment plants, and pump stations.
  • Use SCADA to monitor systems, manage alarms, and support process improvements.
  • Handle chemical management, general maintenance, and irrigation scheduling.
  • Inspect infrastructure, perform maintenance, and respond to issues quickly.
  • Support customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and communicate service updates.
  • Work with teams to plan maintenance, share insights, and improve system performance.
  • Use data to identify efficiency opportunities and recommend improvements.

* This role has been classified as per our Enterprise Agreement as a Band 3 position, ($72,912.23 - $94,710.54 per annum)

* Plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. We reserve the right to remunerate successful candidates within the span of this classification dependant on demonstrated skills, experience and qualifications.

Desired Skills and Experience

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Relevant technical trade certificate and/or completion of industry-based training courses in water operations with over three years’ experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge in the operations and maintenance of service delivery assets such as water distribution systems and sewage reticulation networks.
  3. Proven track record in providing supervision, guidance and leadership for operation tasks.
  4. Effective time management skills combined with the ability to problem solve and prioritise to ensure high quality outcomes during times of peak activity.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal techniques combined with good technological skills.
  6. Ability to participate in standby activities and after-hours callouts as required.
  7. A positive attitude towards personal development including being accountable, innovative, passionate and united to achieve corporate objectives.
